Comprehensive Curriculum. The Foundation also regularly sponsors
overseas training for outstanding English teachers. In addition
the Foundation has close ties with many universities abroad.
Since 1998, the Foundation has been sponsoring semi-annual American
Education Fairs held each spring and fall. The Foundation also
welcomes many representatives of international universities

Justice Travel Agency
|
|
After Sung-Shan Airport opened 35 years ago and made ocean liner
travel a thing of the past, airline tickets were difficult to
come by. The paperwork, procedures, and details of itinerary
planning also often confused students going abroad. In response
to this need, the Merica Group launched Justice Travel Agency
in 1967 to provide students with a complete package of services
from language training to travel arrangements. |

Study Tour Department |
|
During
its 35 years of operation, the Merica Group has accumulated
a wealth of English teaching experience, established a complete
set of international study resources, and built good working
relationships with a number of well-known international universities.
After restructuring its resources, Merica established its Study
Tour Department. Each year, the Study Tour department takes
students for short-term study at UC Berkeley, Columbia University,
the University of Pennsylvania, San Diego State University,
the University of Southern California, the University of London,
and the University of Toronto during the summer and winter vacations.
These programs afford students the opportunity to improve their
language skills, deepen their understanding of another culture,
broaden their views, and develop their independence. This experience
is also an excellent preparation for more formal degree programs
in the future. |

High School Cooperation
Program |
|
As
Taiwan gradually becomes more internationalized, its educational
system has also undergone major changes. In recent years, Taiwanese
students are leaving home to study abroad at younger and younger
ages. Both students and their parents are quite concerned about
the new multiple avenues of access to higher education. Of particular
importance is the popularity of study aboard and language training.
The Merica Group has responded to these changes by extending
its operations to high school campuses. At the invitation of
a number of private high schools, Merica has integrated our
years of traditional language training experience into college
preparatory courses at several leading high schools. These courses
are intended to place students successfully in Taiwanese universities
or in universities abroad. To this end, Merica commissioned
leading faculty from the international, language training, and
local communities to design exciting, pluralistic preparatory
courses with a special focus on practical language training.
Students save time and money in a highly effective learning
environment that prepares them for a university education here
in Taiwan or abroad. |
